Jim is the Senior Partner of the firm and has been in that position in an acting capacity since 2003 and in full time capacity since the death of the founder of the firm (Jim’s brother, John) in 2006.
Jim is also the Partner in charge of Marsdens’ Property & Commercial Department. Jim started this department and continues to play an active role.Jim has practised in the area of property and commercial law, with an emphasis on property development, for in excess of 30 years. He has been involved with the Urban Development Institute since 1992. He has a reputation for providing sound commercial advice on all aspects of property development. With a broad commercial experience and involvement in many types and styles of commercial transactions, he has a reputation for providing a coal face view of a transaction whilst adhering to the strategic objectives of his clients.
Jim acts for many large and small developers and State and Local Government instrumentalities. His practice focuses on commercial and property law, but still Jim spearheads the firm’s direction in the 21st century in his role as Senior Partner.
Jim is a committed family man and a committed member of the community. Over the years he has been involved in many charitable, civic and sporting organisations, including chambers of commerce, drug rehabilitation, disabled children, rugby league and the health sector.
